Cancer Care at Home in North Coast NSW

Home Care Support After Surgery, Chemo or Radiation

This is a time when you really do need people around you who care. Family and friends - of course - but extra help too.

We are here to provide that help

Our Support Staff will watch over and provide company following surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation treatments, as well as conduct errands. They can be the transport you need to reach an appointment and to get home again.

Now your support team is larger - allowing family members the reassurance that when they need to rest, or to care for someone else, you will not be alone.

We provide cancer care and recovery support across the Northern Rivers, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Mid North Coast, Tweed Heads, and Coolangatta regions.

How We Support Cancer Patients At Home

Cancer treatment is exhausting. Between appointments, recovery days, and the emotional weight of it all, the everyday tasks that used to be automatic can suddenly feel impossible.

Our Support Workers take those tasks off your plate so you - or your loved one - can focus entirely on getting through treatment and recovering.

We can help with:

  • Transport to and from treatment - chemotherapy, radiation, oncology appointments, and follow-up visits
  • Personal care - assistance with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene on the days when energy is lowest
  • Meal preparation - nutritious meals that support recovery and are manageable when appetite is affected by treatment
  • Light housekeeping - keeping the home clean and comfortable without adding to family burden
  • Medication reminders - helping manage the often complex medication schedules that come with cancer treatment
  • Companionship and emotional support - simply being present on the hard days, so no one has to face them alone
  • Respite for family carers - giving partners, children, and family members time to rest while knowing their loved one is being cared for

During Treatment

Whether your loved one is having regular chemotherapy or immunotherapy sessions, undergoing radiation, or recovering from cancer surgery, our Support Workers provide consistent, reliable help between appointments - so the everyday doesn't fall apart while treatment is happening.

After Treatment Ends

Recovery from cancer treatment can take months. Fatigue, weakness, and the emotional adjustment of finishing treatment are all real. We continue to provide support as long as it's needed, gradually stepping back as independence returns.

If you need care now and are still sorting out funding, we offer private-pay services with no waiting period. View our pricing schedule here.

Compassionate Support for Your Cancer Recovery Journey

With our help, returning home and recovering from treatment can be made simpler and more comfortable.

Our Support Workers can prepare meals, do light housework, assist with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene, provide medication reminders, companionship, assistance with exercise or transportation to and from appointments, allowing oncology patients to concentrate solely on their recovery.

Anything we can do will help reduce stress, weariness, and depression, all of which will aid in recovery and long-term well-being.

Oncology care - like other care - is about living, and enjoying every day.

Support for Families and Carers of Cancer Patients

Cancer doesn't only affect the person going through treatment - it affects everyone around them. Partners, children, and carers often take on enormous responsibility while quietly struggling themselves.

We work with the whole family, not just the patient. Our Care Managers keep family members informed and involved, and our Support Workers provide the consistent presence that gives families permission to rest, go back to work, or simply breathe.

If you're not sure where to start, call us. We'll listen first, and then work out together what kind of help would make the biggest difference.

Funding for Cancer Home Care

Cancer home care for older Australians can be funded through the Support at Home program. For people under 65, NDIS funding may apply depending on the diagnosis and circumstances. Ideally Home Care is a registered provider for both.

The Cancer Council NSW (call 13 11 20) can also provide guidance on local support services and resources available in your area.

Private-pay care is available if you need support now while funding is being arranged. View our pricing schedule or call us to talk through your options.
