They can also be chronic and debilitating, making everyday tasks harder to manage without help.
If you have a Dust Related Disease - such as Asbestosis, Mesothelioma or Silicosis - we understand your situation, because we have helped many people like you.
We have experience supporting clients living with a range of work-related dust diseases, including:
- Mesothelioma - a cancer of the lining of the lungs caused by asbestos exposure
- Asbestosis - a chronic lung condition caused by inhaling asbestos fibres
- Silicosis - a lung disease caused by inhaling crystalline silica dust, increasingly common in stonemason and construction trades
- Lung cancer related to occupational dust exposure
- Other dust-related lung conditions covered under the icare scheme
Every person's experience with these conditions is different. We develop individual Care Plans that reflect your specific needs, symptoms, and what matters most to you.

What is icare Dust Diseases Care?
If you or a family member has been diagnosed with a dust-related illness - such as asbestosis, mesothelioma, or silicosis - as a result of working in a NSW workplace, you may be entitled to funded support through icare Dust Diseases Care.
icare Dust Diseases Care is a NSW Government scheme that provides compensation and ongoing support to workers who develop a dust disease from occupational dust exposure. It covers:
- Medical treatment and specialist care
- In-home nursing care and personal support
- Walking aids, equipment, and home modifications
- Financial support including fortnightly pension payments
- Attendant care and domestic assistance at home
There is no time limit on pursuing a claim for dust disease exposure with icare - even if the exposure happened many years ago in a NSW workplace. If you're unsure whether you're eligible, it's worth making an application.
